Promote yoga in new education policy



New Delhi: Yoga will be promoted in schools under the new education policy being made by the government. This was stated by Subhash Chandra Khuntia, School Education and Literacy Secretary, Ministry of Human Resource Development, who inaugurated the first yoga Olympiad. In this Olympiad, 350 students from 22 states participated.

The purpose of this three-day festival organized in NCERT campus is to spread the ancient mode of the students of schools across the country. Khuntiya said that the new education policy being made by the government will be a 'important' place of yoga. Describing Yoga as 'maintaining balance' and art 'ensuring health' of the body and mind, he said that the Olympiad will be done every year so that it can be ensured to learn yoga for the all-round development of every child going to school.

He said, Yoga Olympiad will be organized every year to make the participation of all states possible, whose purpose is to teach yoga to the children of the school. NCERT has published books on Yoga for the highest primary and secondary students. This is part of the National Curriculum Framework from 6th to 10th standard.
